<Grammars>

1. Action verb stem+ -(으)려고 : to tell the intention to do action or an certain action is about to happen. verb stem ending with vowels, then combine with '-려고'. verb stem ending with consonants, then combine with '-으려고'

• 도서관에 가려고 가방을 챙기고 있어요. In order to go to the library I am taking my bag.
• 내일 시험이 있어서 공부하려고요. Because I have exam tomorrow, I am going to study. (Action verb stem + (으)려고요. I am going to ~/ intend to~)
• 한국어 능력 시험을 보려고 신청했거든요. In order to take TOPIK, I applied for it.
• 그냥 심심해서 같이 영화 보려고 했어요*. Because I just got bored, I was going to watch movie together.

*action verb stem+ -(으)려고 하다: can be interpreted as 'be about to~' or 'be going to~'

2. Action verb stem+ 고 있다: to tell the action continue. It is the ending for 'continuous present tense. For the past continuous, add the past particle "-았/었/했-' before add this ending. 

• 가방을 챙기고 있어요. I am taking my back.
• 지금 점심을 먹고 있어요. Now I am eating lunch.
• 그때 책을 읽고 있었어요. I was reading a book at that time.

3. Verb stem+ 거든요: to indicate the reason.

• 신청했거든요. It's because I applied for it.
• 조용히 하세요. 영화가 시작하거든요. Please be quiet. It's because the movie starts.

1. In order to borrow the book, I go to the library.

2. Because the weather is hot, I am about to switch on the air-con.

3. Because today is my friend's birthday, I am about to send the message.

4. In order to send the messages, I am writing.
