G06. 할게요 vs 할 거예요

Step 01. Read and Learn the pattern


엄마: 공부 안 해?  Don't you study?
딸 1: 공부할게요. I will study.(= I promise that I will study)
딸 2: 내일부터 공부할 거예요. I will study from tomorrow. (I plan to study from tomorrow)

선배: 이번 행사에서 누가 초대장 보낼 거예요? Who will sent the invitation for this event? (Who is planning to send the invitation for this event?)
후배: 제가 보낼 게요. I will send. (=I promise that I will send)
선배: 언제 보낼 거예요? When will you send? (Are you planning when you will send?)
후배: 이번주에 보낼 거예요. I will send by this week. (=I plan to send by this week)
선배: 금요일까지 보낼 수 있어요? Can you send by Friday?
후배: 네, 금요일까지 보낼게요. Yes, I will send by Friday. (I promise that I will send by Friday)


Step 02. Words and Grammars

Words

엄마 mom, 딸 daughter (아들 son), 행사 event, 초대장 invitation card, 보내다 send


Grammars

⠂동사(action verb) + (으)ㄹ게요: if it interpret in English, it will be "will". However, it's telling the speaker's promise to the listener that the speaker will do. It can be only used for the 1st person 'I'.
동사(action verb) + (으)ㄹ 거예요: if it interpret in English, it will be "will". However, it's telling the speaker's plan to the listener. If it uses for 3rd person (he/she), it's the speaker's assumption about his/her plan.

Step 03. Practice with Writing Your Own sentences

1. I will (promise to) wait for you.
2. I will (plan to) go shopping tomorrow.
3. I will (promise to) finish by this week.
4. I promise./ I will promise.
